Video Baby Monitors are Fabulous + Giveaway

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

It’s so nice to be able to peak in on E without walking into her room. I can see if she’s trying to go to sleep, acting crazy, needs my attention, or is just talking to herself. All without disturbing her! (Yeah, no video monitor for the first two!) I don’t think I could do without a video baby monitor now that I’ve had one.

We were recently sent for review the Lila 2.4” Video Baby Monitor to test out. The packaging is very minimalistic and comes in quite a small box.

Levana Lila Video Baby Monitor Review and Giveaway

Lila™ (L(i)-la) Meaning : Night Take the first step towards a much-needed night of peaceful rest for you and your baby. New discrete, invisible LEDs keep your baby undisturbed in complete darkness without the red glow from traditional night vision LEDs while giving you an image from up to 12ft away. Lila’s Talk to Baby™ two-way intercom keeps you and your baby connected so you can sleep easier at night and do more during the day. Do more knowing your child is safe with the Lila Baby Video Monitor by Levana.

And it comes with everything you need, even the screws that you need for mounting the camera on the wall. You can easily mount the camera to the wall for a handy bird’s-eye view of your baby’s room. It can be adjusted 240° horizontally and 65° vertically so, no matter what your child is up to, Lila’s camera will capture it all. However, this doesn’t mean that you can pan using an external device (like the monitor or something else), you have to adjust it when you mount it on the wall to get your ideal view.

The camera’s has 8 invisible infrared LEDs that allow you to see your child up to 12ft away in complete darkness. I think this helps E not be distracted by the harsh red LED lights found on traditional baby video monitors so she can sleep easier…yet, I can still see her. An important note: The manual says that you can’t have anything three feet in front of the camera. I’ve discovered this the hard way as the sensors don’t work and the LEDs aren’t able to properly view the room. So make sure the camera has a nice clear view.

The stand on the monitor part is a nice touch. I’ve previously used monitors without them and it’s difficult to see the image without knocking the monitor over. You can also remove this stand should you want to put it in your pocket and make it a little more streamline.

It also has a visual for the sound (should you not want to listen in)….there is a light up bar (see the green lights) that go up and down according to the sound in the room. I think she was actually sleeping here, but the green bars are lit because of her white noise machine. Typical room ambience will display as green, while noise or cries from your baby will change from yellow through orange and red depending on the volume.

The battery can last up to 72 Hour Battery Life in PEEP mode (Power-on/off Energy Efficient Picture). Of course, with the white noise in the room, this feature doesn’t work, but otherwise, this sets your monitor screen to “sleep” when there is no sound in the nursery. As soon as your little one makes a peep, the monitor will activate and you will be able to see and hear exactly what is going on.

(Taking a picture of a monitor picture is super hard!). E was supposed to be taking a nap. However, I think she times herself to see how quickly she can run back and forth from side to side in her crib. She’s taking a break here, but then off again seconds later. It’s pretty funny to watch. Not so funny? When she throws out her toys, blankies and pacis and then gets mad she doesn’t have them.

Thankfully, she eventually tires herself out and I know I can get a little work done before she’s up again ready to destroy bookshelves and clean toy shelves.

I haven’t tested it, but the signal will work up to 500 ft away. I think I could be at the neighbors house! It also use a private, secure and interference-free digital signal that no one but you can access. The screen is  2.4” screen and has a display rate of 25 frames per second so you don’t miss anything!

One really nice feature is the Talk to Baby™ Two-way Communication. I’ve tried to use it to calm E down and I think it freaks her out because she can’t see me, but it really comes in handy if I need Mr. Serious to come upstairs or bring something up, or he needs me. No more yelling across the house. Wait, that’s not true..but at least no more yelling from E’s room!

Should you need or want to add more, the Levana has the option to expand up to 4 Cameras.  You can add up to three additional cameras to conveniently view up to four areas of your home on one monitor.

Also worth mentioning, is their upcoming Oma and Oma+ movement monitors powered by Snuza. They will be adding the clip on abdominal movement monitor to our product selection in July.

*We received a Lila video baby monitor to facilitate the review. All thoughts are our own. No compensation was received.
