The best gluten-free southwest chicken tenders in the air fryer
An air fryer has almost become a constant on our counter…and that’s saying a lot for somebody that has limited counter space. But, it makes the crispiest food with little to no fat or oils added. This time we made the best gluten-free southwest chicken tenders in the air fryer.
The ingredients for the best gluten-free southwest chicken tenders in the air fryer
Gather your ingredients so you can get started with the breading that will give the chicken it’s crispy flavor. You’ll need gluten-free breadcrumbs, (we like to use homemade) taco seasoning, oregano, onion powder, salt, and crushed red pepper. The recipe is below with all of the ingredients.
Prepare the chicken for the southwest chicken tenders
Once the breading is prepared, the boneless skinless chicken breast into tender sizes. You could also purchase already cut up chicken tenders or even cut chicken smaller into chicken nuggets.
After cutting up the chicken, coat it with the mayonnaise. I promise, you will not taste the mayonnaise. I don’t like the stuff at all. Instead you will end up with incredibly moist chicken that the breading can stick to and allows it to get crispy.
One at a time, after the chicken has been coated in mayonnaise, dip each chicken tender into the batter and coat them. Make sure to cover the entire piece of chicken.
Place the coated gluten-free southwest chicken tenders on the rack for the air fryer (or basket if that’s the air fryer type you have).
Make sure you leave enough space for air to move around them.
Then place them into the air fryer for about 15-20 minutes until they are done.
We were sent the PowerXL Air Fryer Oven w/ Accessory Kit to test out.

The PowerXL Air Fryer Pro is a full multi-cooker that gives you all the crisp, juicy, delicious, healthier benefits of air frying with an added rotisserie and dehydrator. Just choose from 8 One-Touch Pre-Set Buttons to air fry extra crispy chicken fingers; air-fry rotisserie for savory pork roast, mouthwatering turkey breast, or authentic kebabs; and you can even use the dehydrator to make healthy dehydrated vegetables, herbs, fruit, and more—with no added sugar. Your food cooks on both the top and the bottom for that great crispy-fried taste and texture—without all the fat and calories!
The air fryer doesn’t heat up the entire kitchen and cooks so much faster. I really like the see-through door so we can check the progress of the food as it’s cooking. You can also see it does a great job of roasting vegetables like asparagus, too.
We served our gluten-free southwest chicken tenders with a side salad and cucumbers.
Every time we make these chicken tenders, they are devoured by our family and even guests.
