Fresh, filtered water from my fridge
Back in 2007, when we purchased our house, we also needed a fridge.
It was important to me that we had a water and ice dispenser in the door. It makes me drink more water because it’s convenient, and then we don’t buy bottled water. It’s a win-win situation. So, we went with a Whirlpool fridge that uses Whirlpool filters with PUR.
One thing I didn’t realize (naively) was that we would also need a water filter for the water line. The water needs to be filtered to remove all of the “ick” in it. And, you can totally tell when the filter is in and working. The water takes a lot better than the water out of the tap. Plus, it filters the water that goes to our ice maker, too. We use this water for everything, if we are making a drink that requires water, like coffee or our electric kettle. Even our water for our water carbonating system gets filtered water. It’s hard not to use it…it just tasted better. Now, the girls can even reach the water dispenser so they can help themselves to water when they’d like it.
What’s really nice, is our fridge has a little monitor (hard to see, but there is a row of colored lights..in this picture, it’s yellow) and once it’s red, it’s time to replace the filter. I’m thankful for this because it doesn’t mean I’m replacing the filter until it’s necessary.

The filters look like this and go in a spot in the bottom of the front of the fridge. It takes about 10 seconds to change it out, then you have to run a little water through it and you are good to go.

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Whrilpool and received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
