Yay fiber.

It’s a funny thing to talk about, really.  Digestive health, regularity and full body health.

My aunt nags me all the time to make sure I get enough fiber.  She says it’s good for the colon and our family has bad colons.*  Go figure.

Because most people need 25 to 30 grams of dietary fiber each day, but most of us get only 12 to 15 grams a day, I’ve got a way to cheat.  Everyday (okay, everyday I remember), I take my two FiberChoice chewable fiber supplements to get 4 grams more of dietary fiber.  It’s quick, easy, and has a decent taste. 

It’s main ingredient is inulin the same healthy fiber found naturally in many fruits and vegetables.  "Inulin is ‘prebiotic,’ which means it nourishes the friendly, “good” bacteria in the digestive system."

I tried the FiberChoice® Plus Antioxidants.  They were pretty tasty, however, I’d say it’s obvious there is fiber in them. I’m never tried another fiber supplement (except their original formula orange medley), but I would guess a bit of a fiber "flavor" would be expected.  Having said that, to get some extra fiber in my diet, it’s a great way to do it.

*My aunt doesn’t work for the FDA, and neither do I.  So, I don’t know if she’s actually right or not. I think I read it one time somewhere, but don’t just take my word for it.
