My little midwives in training | Mommy and Me Monday | 198th ed

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids.  Check out the inaugural Mommy and Me Monday for more information. Need another reason to participate in Mommy and Me Monday? Read my post about why I blog with words from a friends’ husband.

These two big girls are definitely aspiring to enter the medical field (and their little sister is close behind!). I think they are leaning towards midwifery. And, I would definitely support them! (I think midwifery, nurse or lactation consultant are some of my “missed” professions).

They think it’s amazing and awesome (as do I) that they can listen to their sister whenever they want. They can now feel her moving, but listening to her heartbeat is nothing short of a miracle. They’ve been listening to her heartbeat since we were sent a Baby Beat fetal doppler rental to try out again. (The girls really enjoyed listening to E when she was in utero and remembered the experience immediately.)

Baby Beats Doppler Rental Review

(Yes, that’s my bare belly….and my belly button is really creeping on being an outie. I’ve never had it pop all the way out, but I’m seriously wondering if it might this time!)

I love that they could connect with their sister when I was just 12 weeks pregnant with her, just like they did with E. They were right there with me, applying the ultrasound gel, turning on the doppler and listening until we “found” her. Of course, they also like to test out the doppler on their own hearts to hear theirs and compare them (mommy, the baby’s heart beats soooo much faster than mine!)

They also think it’s really cool that it displays the number on the front (B’s heart rate) and they can both practice reading their numbers over 100! I think it’s pretty cool that we can record it and I can send it to family so they can get a listen, too (because they’ve never been in town when there is a doctor’s appointment).

Baby Beats Doppler Rental Review

It just makes my heart go a flutter to see and hear the girls so excited about their newest little sister’s arrival. And, that they love to listen in on her and “spy” on her until she gets here.

**There really is only one requirement here, a picture of you and your baby or babies; your children, your “baby” (ie significant other) or even your fur babies. If your picture doesn’t feature you (meaning you must be in the picture), I will have to delete your link. It’s not fair to the others that follow the rules.**

I try to make sure and visit all of you and leave some comment love.  Please spread the love!  And, I never mind the comments, either:)

*BabyBeat provided me a doppler rental to facilitate my review. All thoughts are my own. You can use the code RS10 for a 10% discount off your own baby doppler rental.

  1. That is so neat that you can hear the heartbeat whenever you want! I wish I had one of those when I was pregnant because I was a worrywart and it would have reassured me. Plus the chance for big sisters to bond with the baby before she’s born is awesome. 🙂

My belly button popped out with each of my pregnancies and was super sensitive.

    1. It hasn’t popped, but it is super stretched out and WAY sensitive. And all three girls think it’s hilarious to try to stick their little fingers in it. Mostly because I yell!

How cool that you have an ultra sound machine at home. .. No wonder the girls are excited. Have a great week. Hugs

    1. It just does the heartbeat, no ultrasound at home…that would be really cool, but I would have no idea what I was doing.

  9. I’m sure that helps them feel very close to the baby.

  10. I think this is great that your girls want to be a midwife. I am in nursing school and you are correct midwifery and lactation consultants often miss the mark. I can think of one student that wants to be a midwife. When I sync my phone I am going to link up to your Mommy and Me Monday!

    1. I didn’t see your link this week, I hope you can come back and link up tomorrow.

  11. I am sure that hearing their sister’s heartbeat is an exciting experience for them! My son was amazed when we saw his brother on the “TV”. I wish I had a Doppler so we could do heartbeats at home.

  14. Hi Krystyn,

HAHA! I have never had my belly button pop out before either! That would be awesome to have it happen, just once. I think I would be tickled by it. (Yes, it is the little things that make me happy…)

Great pictures of you and your girls. Although, I’m thinking that is a picture of baby and your girls… 🙂

    1. Ahhhh…a stickler…there’s a little of me in there:)

If I lay on my side in just the right position, it does seem like it’s sticking out a bit. I think I’m just not petite enough for it to pop out.

  15. When my Nana passed away 10ish years ago I remember my Mom saying she wished she had more pictures with her Mom. I don’t have any kids of my own, but as a photographer I’m always encouraging mom’s to get in the picture!

    1. Yes, it’s sooo important. Even on our worst days, I think our kids would rather have us in pictures.

  16. This is so neat. I wish I would have had some sort of device at home so I could listen to all of my babies heartbeats.

  17. I love your post! I love how you get your girls involved! It’s wonderful to see their excitement for their new sister 🙂

  20. How sweet that your girls are bonding with their baby sister. How great that you have access to a fetal monitor. I would have loved for my older kids to be able to hear their baby Maddie’s heartbeat.

  21. I like the idea of getting out from behind the camera and having photos with the children. it is nice to be part of the memory and not just watching it.

  22. That’s really cool that your kids could experience that! My daughter loves playing doctor so she’d probably get a kick out of getting to participate.
