A closer look

Before #1 even arrived, the OB took one look at me and said, “I bet your child has freckles, but just so you know, they don’t usually show up until around two years old.”

Previously, we started noticing them; a little one on her cheek, one on her arm, just a little sprinkling of them. Now, she has enough of them to point them out…and she can see them.

We take every opportunity to tell her how much we love them and how beautiful they are. (Because, well, kids are mean, and I remember being made fun of because of all of my freckles…”freckle face” being one of them).

The other morning (yes, we are in PJs and our hair is NOT brushed), we were looking at freckles and pointing them out. #1 has a fun time finding hers.

Then, she decided she would look for mine. That’s pretty easy to do! “There’s one…there’s one…there’s one” all the while pointing out each one.

Here’s hoping one day she will embrace her freckles, too, and that kids will only be nice to her about them. I can dream, right?
