A stay at home date with the little

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

Thursday was a stay at home day.  You were sick.  You had a fever last night and just coughed and coughed and coughed.

Mommy knew you weren’t yourself, so after we dropped your sister off at school, we went to the doctor.

Double ear infection.  That seems to be how you roll.  Both ears.  Same time.

But, you were a trooper.  You said “I do a good job mommy” after we left the doctor.  Indeed, you did.  No fussing, no crying, no whining.  You just did what “the lady” told you to do and all was good.

We got your medicine, came home and had a lunch of yogurt and you took your nap.  No fussing.

When you woke up, you played in your room.  No yelling for mommy, you just entertained yourself.

We came downstairs and played.  Today, we played catch, you played with dominoes and your purse, you pushed your baby in her stroller (while holding your snack and your drink…true mommy in training), played with blocks and painted.  We even has some cuddle time.  Love it.

We had a mini photoshoot, too, while we were playing.  You wanted to practice your “dinosaur face”..which you used to call “I cheezin’!”

Then, you built the tallest tower you could.  But, only pink and red momma and you meant it.  Don’t you dare put a blue one on there!  And, you wanted pictures!  Pictures with you and your tower.

And, when you were done with your blocks and your tower?  You cleaned up every single one.  Without me even asking!  You are growing up big girl.  You aren’t anywhere close to a baby.  You are my big girl, too.

Sometimes, it’s hard to remember what it was like to have one kid.  And, you were never just my “one kid.”  There is always your sister.  But, today, I was reminded of it.  And, today, you were sort of like my one kid.  Then, you asked to go get your sister from school because you missed her.

  1. That’s nice you got to have a day together and she felt well enough to enjoy it. I sure do miss Sampson! Less than 60 days and I’ll be giving her some Auntie Em loving!

  2. That was so stinkin’ sweet! I love those moments when you can just love on one kid. Our family and our lives are such a whirlwind, so it’s nice to just cuddle and play with one child when the opportunity presents itself, especially when they are not feeling well.

  3. Awwwww, that was so sweet! She is such a darling girl, and I love how she only wanted pink or red blocks. 🙂

    1. She’s done several more only pink and red towers….she’s silly like that.

Cute pictures and what a great day you had double ear infection and all. Seems like N is getting all the fun things, broken leg, tear duct issues, ear infections and allergies. She is going to know the way to the doctor by memory soon.

    1. Oh, I hope that’s not the case. We were just saying how lucky we’ve been that they haven’t been sick in a while.

  5. That is just so sweet. It is really a rare treat to be able to spend some one on one time with just one of your kids. I always enjoy it when I get it. 🙂

    1. I especially enjoy it when they are sick and need me a little more (not that they are sick, but that they need me because they are!)

  6. So sweet. i love days like that…when you’re reminded why you do everything you do everyday in the first place. 🙂

I hope her ears clear up soon!

    1. After the first dose of antibiotics she was already feeling better! Thanks.

  7. It seems like such a gift when there’s just one to spend time with after the having to deal with the usual bunch. It’s a nice reminder of just how great our kid can be.

  10. so cute!
Hope your sweet girl continues to be such a trooper through her ear infections.

  11. Such a touching post. The Little is getting so big!

    1. Seriously? How is she closer to three than two already?

    1. Yes….it is crazy what a different kid they are and what a different mom I am.

  12. This is so precious. I feel the same way about my little one. He is 13 months and to this day it feels like I haven’t had any REAL one on one time with him. I know I need to make a better effort and taking a devide and conquer approach sometimes just so he gets to have the full attention like his brother did at one time. Its great that you got to have a day with her like that.

    1. I think this is the only way I get that good one on one time. Every once and a while, we split up and each take a kid, but it’s usually to conquer our errands faster.

  13. Awww. I just love that one on one time. You just gotta sop it up when you can, and it certainly sounds like the two of you made the most of the day. It sounds like a perfect day (despite the double ear infection-ouch!) for some bonding time. 🙂 But I also love that she missed her sister. So sweet. 🙂

    1. Yes, pretty close to perfect. Funny how you would think a perfect day would come when a kid is sick, but it really was nice…and she’s pretty sweet on her sister, too.

  14. That was a very sweet post! Sounds like a great day together, minus the double ear infection! Not looking forward to those. =/

    1. We’ve been lucky…there haven’t been too many ear infections with our girls, thank goodness.

What a lovely post. You are such a good mom and have such a tender heart. I am so glad that you capture every moment with your little girls and know that they are special…. and fleeting. I love you more with each post you publish. Your girls are special because they have such a special mom.
I hope that N gets better soon. Give her a hug from cyber Grammy Lura

    1. Awww…Grammy. Thanks so much for making me feel like a special mom, because I gotta tell you, these girls have been testing me lately.

She’s already feeling a million times better, too.

PS I’ve been trying to comment on blogger blogs all day and can’t get it to work, but I’ve been by your place. I think Bob and John sure sound a lot alike.

  16. Don’t you want to just package up days like that, and bring them out on the not so perfect days?? 🙂

    1. Sure do. But, isn’t it a little crazy that she was sick and it was still a great day?

  17. awww poor baby 🙁 but man she looks happy to have some quality time with her mama!

    1. She really is the best “sick” kiddo! A real trooper.
