Learning to Stand | Review and Giveaway
The plot synopsis from the back of the book: Last year, Major Alexandra “The Fey” Hargreaves’ lost everything and almost lost her life. Now,
Fragile and lost, she stumbles and falls.
When a small child’s life is in danger, only Alex can save him. Setting aside her grief, the horror of the past and betrayal in the present, she musters the strength and courage to rally her team to rescue him.
And Alex learns to stand again.
Learning to Stand is the second fast-paced, heartwarming novel in the Alex the Fey Thriller series.
My Thoughts: Learning to Stand is about Alex “The Fey” a special forces agent trained in rescuing hostages from captivity. She was a part of special team (in the first novel) that was set up and killed. She was the lone survivor. She hardly remembers anything and has to put a lot of pieces together, both mentally and physically.
In Learning to Stand, Alex is charged, to rescue another hostage, a little kid. And, along with this little kid are several others. She has to race against the clock to put a team together and save the boy. She also has to race again outside forces as there is always a hit out for her life.
The characters are very complex and there are a lot of them. The situations are faced paced and ever changing. One thing that was extremely important, was the headings. It told you the time and place (which I often overlooked), I found myself confused until I realized I needed to pay more attention to that! There were also a couple places I had to go back and read as I wasn’t quite sure who was saying something or who it was directed to.
The book definitely kept me wanting to read more to figure things out. It definitely wasn’t a book that I was able to predict what was going to happen next. I enjoyed getting to know Alex; her dedication, her faults, her persistence and her perseverance.
