Netflix stream team disclaimer

Being a huge science fan for as long as I can remember, the girls finally know who I’m talking about when I say “Bill Nye.” Why? Because now they can catch season one of Bill Nye the Science Guy on Netflix. It didn’t even take me much convincing to get them to try out a new show and now they are hooked.

Bill Nye the Science Guy

In fact, my oldest showed us one of the tricks she learned. You can use paper to bend the infrared light from your remote control to get the channel to change. I love that she not only watched and understood, but she tested it first and then called me over to demonstrate that she learned it. And, yes, I asked her to explain to me why it worked too!

We also saw Bill Nye do one of my favorite acid and base experiments that we have previously done. You should definitely try it at home because it’s not messy and you can see the results. Check out our silly little video.

Another fun one is Inspector Gadget. He’s had a bit of an upgrade, but the concept and music are still the same. So now when I say “go go gadget arm” when my kids want me to reach something in the back of the van, they finally think I’m funny and they get it!

Inspector Gadget has also increased some of their own gadget making creativity. They have gotten really good at their pulley skills using pieces of ribbon and string (never mind that they are from their dresses!)

I really appreciate that Netflix is able to bring back so many shows from our youth that were fun, quality and educational and sometimes in a new way so that we can connect with something from our childhood to something in our children’s childhood.
