Smartipants Cloth Diaper Review and Giveaway
Since starting and deciding to go on a cloth diapering journey, I’ve discovered so many brands of diapers as well as types of diapers. I was excited to try out the Smartipants™ pocket diapers in Bubble Gum Pink. A friend of mine used them and said she liked them, so I went looking.
Before even trying out the diaper, I was happy to discover that they are made in the USA and invented by a mom. They are dedicated to being 100% green, environmentally friendly, economical, and determined to keep their diapers proudly made by mothers in the United States of America!
Smartipants™ diapers feature Leak-Guard Technology, keeping moisture contained, and baby dry. Their diapers are made with “breathable” fibers and are free from any chemicals or irritants. Smartipants™ reusable diapers are designed to grow with your baby from newborn to toddler, babies 7lbs – 35lbs.
When I received the diaper, I was impressed at how trim and lightweight it was.
So, I quickly unpackaged it and unsnapped all of the snaps to see how big (and how small) it would go.
At first glance, I noticed that the snaps overlap on the front so the waist can get itty-bitty for those teeny-tiny newborn babies.
They come with one very soft microfiber insert with a microsuede lining on the inside.
And, one of their nice features is the pocket that is open on both ends. I’ve read and heard that this allows you to not have to remove the insert before washing because it agitates out. But, because I only had one diaper a day, I would immediately take the insert out and rinse it in the sink, so I haven’t yet had a chance to try out this feature.
As I was stuffing the pocket, I noticed something else really nice. The entire diaper is lined with the microsuede. Why is this nice? When you are stuffing the pocket, your fingers and fingernails don’t get stuck on the waterproof insides of the diaper.
Because I’m using this on a three year old at night, it definitely required more than one insert. I added a hemp booster in the pocket with the included microfleece insert and it was perfect. No leaks and most importantly a nice trim fit. My three year old is quite tall (38″ I think and about 28 lbs) and it still fits her wonderfully both front
and back.
I attempted to use it as a cover with a prefold and I wouldn’t recommend it. It didn’t leak, but there was some wicking around the legs.
Single diapers are $14.95 or you can get a six-pack for $36.95 and they also have twelve-packs and even twenty-four packs…all at extremely reasonable prices.
