Mommy and Me Monday- The 33rd Edition- At the Fair

It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids.  Check out the inaugural Mommy and Me Monday for more information.

One should really consider the location of the annual fair when purchasing a house and the route that one takes from said house to work every.single.day.  Because, if one doesn’t consider it, and one drives past said fair every.single.day, one will get asked by their child when they will be going to the fair.

Well, we finally went this weekend.  And, just like last year’s trip to the fair, and the previous year’s trip to the fair, we had a great time.

It’s funny how the priorities have changed.  It used to be fun to visit the petting zoo and see the elephant, then the carousel was introduced, and this year, we had to do the Ferris wheel.

Daddy has done the Ferris wheel with her before, so she requested I go.

Here we are midway around.  Don’t let my smile deceive you.

Mommy and Me Monday-The Fair

It’s confession time.  Five years ago, a ride on the the old wheel in the sky would have been a piece of cake.  This time?  With this precious cargo?  I was a nervous wreck.

"Scoot back. Don’t lean over.  Keep your feet in front of you.  No, you can’t scoot away from me.  Yes, my arm has to be around you.  Wooooahhh we’re at the top again.  Yes, mommy prefers the bottom."

Seriously, it was one of the scariest moments for me.  Scarier than #1 going on her first field trip last Friday.

See how tall it was.  We were waaayyyy up there.  And the one on the right was on the way up…then I realized how high we were and immediately put my camera away.

Yep, scary.  I’m so old!

Then, I did something else I don’t do.  I went on the carousel.  I don’t do spinning.  I don’t do twirling.  I can’t handle it.

But for this smile and this cutie, I did it, too.

Mommy and Me Monday-The Fair

I’m quite certain there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for these girls.

  9. Super fun shots!!! I don’t dig the ferris wheel either ~ way too high! But last summer the girls were dying to ride the one at navy pier in chicago (google it ~ it’s ENORMOUS!) and I did it ~ with my entire family of five in the car. And I tried smiling, but good golly!
(PS – love that shot of the ferris wheel from the ground ~ really cool colors!:)

  10. Ferris Wheels are the most frightening ride in the WORLD to me! I give you credit for going on one with Izzy because I think I would have a heart attack if I took Maggie on one. It just would never happen!

  11. awwwww…supah fun…you guys got a gorgeous smile….:)

    have a wonderful day!

  12. I love my kids, but not enough to spin. You’re a brave girl! But you’re right, those faces are enough to do crazy thing! ;o)

  13. I can’t believe you went on the ferris wheel with her. I don’t like that ride at all. The merry-go-round is more my speed.

Can’t wait to take them to Cedar Point when they get older.

  14. There is something so stinking scary about ferris wheels. You are just so out in the open and so high up. And just that dopey little bar across your lap that is way too loose. ACK!!! Freaks me out! My boys wanted to go on the ferris wheel this year again (it is shaped more like a teacup and can fit 5 or 6 people in it but it has NO lapbelts!!!) and luckily we were out of tickets. 😉

    Great shots!

  15. Those are great photos! I think you are the best mommy in the world. I happen to LOVE the carosel, it is my favorite ride as I can’t do many others, as long as it doesn’t spin too fast or I get dizzy because of my vertigo. (HaHa)
I remember the first time I took my boys on a ferris wheel, I was just lik you were! Death grip on their waist and all. Thanks for sharing your day.

  16. I HATE the ferris wheel. Those chair things swing and rock way too much for my liking. The carousel…now you’re talking!

  17. We went to our county fair Saturday, too. I am brave with my kids around…otherwise, my life would be rather boring. Glad they are here to spice up life for me. 🙂 Our fair adventure will be posted later this week.

  18. Diggin’ those aviators! We wen to the zoo yesterday and I didn’t get one pic of the dude and I together. Fail!

  19. Such cute pics again! OKAY. I cannot forget next week! LOL!

  20. I don’t like the heights or the twirls or the going ’round and ’round either. Ugh. But the fun of being so high on the ferris wheel last year — well, I finally couldn’t stand it and went on it with Jerry and got some awesome shots. Isn’t is amazing what the view is like up there! All the color in the fair. And all the fun with your kids. You did a great mommy thing… the girls will always remember that — and your smiles mixed together with the happiness in their faces. ♥

  21. That is an awesome picture of you and Izzy. I’m bummed we missed the fair this year…oh well, there’s always next year!

  22. that is super high up! it looks like an awesome place though!!

  23. dude i am impressed. there is no flippin way i would ride that thing. no flippin way.

  24. Cute pictures!!
Just wait until she wants to go by herself. That’s what my daughter did at the fair last year. Ferris Wheel, spinning thing, the thing that flips you upside down. I was required to stand by and watch. Only good thing is that I don’t have to pretend to not get sick from the upside down flipping. They grow up way too fast.

  25. you two are so cute! i love the wheel shots – so vibrant and colourful!

  26. OMGosh, I am right there with you. Ferris wheels scare the crap outta me. I had a knot in my tummy the entire time my girls were going round. Great pics!! We love the fair too.

  27. Oh yes, I know the feeling. I was the same way with AIyana the last time we went on the ferris wheel – freaking out. I wanted her back against the seat the entire time!…lol.

    Great photos!

  28. looks like a fun time:) Amazing, the things we’ll do for our kids that we would never do otherwise!
