When my sister, Emily, asked me to create her Save the Date cards, it was very important to her to have something on there that was symbolic for her.  For us.

Do you see those three little butterflies in the top right corner?  Well, they represent three lives that were taken from our family way too early.

Save the date

I’ve mentioned and talked about all of them before.  All of them should have been in our generations picture.  Nicky, our cousin, lost her battle to cancer at the age of 9.  Taylor, also our cousin, lost her battle to cancer just a few years later.  And, the third butterfly was in honor/memory of our baby in heaven.

To some, it might seem insignificant, but to me, to us, it was very significant.  And, I know that my aunts were very thankful for the memory as well.

And, at the ceremony?  Included in her bouquet were three separate crystal butterflies for each one of those people.  This was mentioned in the program I created, too, so the guests knew of their significance.

It was a very simple and yet special thing that she did for us all.
