Days 1 and 2 recap: SAHM

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

So, I’m 3/4ths of the second day into this SAHM gig.

It’s working out pretty well. I find I have like almost zero computer time, but it’s good for all of us.

So, here’s a bullet list!

Day 1:
-In a battle between a glass jar of peanut butter and our granite counter tops, our granite won. Big time. Sweeping #1.
-After breakfast and getting dress, #1 asked if she was going to school. I told her she was going to get to stay home with me this summer. She threw her cup and then asked if daddy was on his way home.
-We walked to the local elementary school which has a great play area.
-#2 took a long snooze en route and once we were there. (Doesn’t she look huge).
-The slides were still wet and didn’t have anything to wipe them off. Wait, I did. I used a diaper. It was genius! And, #1 still stood up at the bottom.
-The girls’ naps overlapped by about 30 minutes. Whew!
-Played some more at home.
-Cooked dinner and went to bed.

Day 2:
-#2 managed to grab my lunch, which had a container of cous-cous. It went all over the floor. Sweeping #2.
-#2 doesn’t really want to nurse much. Great. Teething? Maybe…who knows.
-#2 just spilled my water all over herself and me. She cried. A drop got on #1’s leg. She cried, too.
-My living room is a disaster area.

So far so good, wouldn’t you say?

  1. Sounds like a great adventure….you are doing a fab job. I love the creative use of the diaper. Those things have come in handy over the years.

  2. Welcome. 🙂 haha

I especially identify with the tossing the cup and asking when Daddy will be home. Daddy is infinitely better since Mommy is always here. 😉

Good luck! It’s rewarding just as much as how difficult it can be.

  3. Welcome to my world. Except my kids, bless them, usually take their afternoon naps at the same time. It’s the only thing keeping me sane.

  4. i SOMETIMES REFER TO THIS “GIG” AS HELL.

Sounds like things are going wonderful.

  7. Hehe! Sounds like you’re having a lot of fun!

I love how she threw her cup and asked for Daddy. Bella’s new thing is looking at me and then walking around saying Daddy. Like he’s hiding or something?!

And don’t you love the living room disaster? 🙂 Leo doesn’t seem to get why I’m not picking up all day long…um, we’ll wait until it’s bedtime thankyouverymuch 🙂

    Cute post!

  8. You are doing a great job! Love the comment…Is daddy home yet? 🙂

  9. Lol I hate 2 laugh but it’s hard not 2! So I guess you can’t wait for the rest of the summer now, huh!? Haha good luck 🙂

  10. Sounds better than my first day with all four of the kiddo here (I just posted).

My living room is a mess every day, until they go to bed and I can do my 'magic' 🙂

  11. It's amazing how we make it through every day isn't it? 🙂

I love the pic of her snoozing. So cute!

  12. MamabearMills says:

  13. i say total success friend – they are both alive and kicking!!

  14. I have days like this a lot.

My living room is always a disaster. I hate when people drop by unannounced because I imagine they think I'm a total slob. I want to shout, "It's not me! It's the kids!"

  15. Sounds like a couple typical SAHM days:)
I bet you are going to have a blast with them this summer!

  16. Smart A$$ Mom says:

in hinds sight, I would say day's gone swimmingly. It could always be worse. Aside from the obvious ways, you could have 4 little kids.

  17. Sounds like you are busier staying at home then at work!! Which is what I hear from most SAHMs!!!!

  18. I too loved the comment about asking for Daddy……sounds like TigerBoy this morning!
Great thinking about the diaper! Super absorbent, eh?
Good luck with the rest of the 7 1/2 weeks!!!……lol……I also find it's very hard to get near the computer when I'm home all day…and that's just with one!

  19. Looks like this is going to be an interesting summer for you 🙂

  20. You poor thing. This SAHM mom gig is really giving you a run for your money, or should I say…patience 🙂 You're doing great so far!

  21. Full time SAHM to only one here. I'm frightened about making it two. Sounds like you're doing a pretty good job! Our family room looks like it threw up on a daily basis.

  22. The part where Izzy threw her cup was pretty darn funny, although I have a feeling you didn't think it was so funny at the time…

  23. Yep, you are definitely a seasoned SAHM at this point. The diaper; very resourceful. A tip; buy an extra broom. The one you have will inevitably break and then not only will your living room be a disaster but you'll have couscous all over your kitchen as well. It's not fun to "sweep" up a kitchen floor with you hand. Trust me on this one.

  24. Hey, you could be teaching summer school right? 😉 Enjoy the adventure!

  25. Is Daddy a celebrity yet?

It wouldn't take long for the girls to figure that one out. Makayla and Josiah have that number down, Daddy walks and they put on lots of smiles and talking. And I can't blame them since I usually want to hand them over and run!

  26. Yup – I often think about how CLEAN my house would be if we weren't there all day long! LOL. It's a never-ending process (seriously) and eventually you'll get used to it….eventually…and other times you'll want to throw a cup yourself and say "heck with it…" 🙂

  27. Sounds like me…I am constantly cleaning up messes whether it is from the kids, the cat, D or me!! It never ends. Have a great time enjoying it ALL this summer.

  28. YOu sound like a much better SAHM than me! Isn't it nice to have both worlds though – what a great job you have!!
