From Texas, With Love | Mommy and Me Monday | 340th ed
I haven’t shared much about Gramps on the old blog. It hasn’t been my news to share. After a long and brave battle with cancer, his fight was over on August 10th. We are and will continue to miss him and will continue to share memories and remember him. (For those new here, Gramps is Mr. Serious’ father. The girls called him Gramps. So, Gramps is my Father-in-Law.)
To celebrate his life with family, we flew to Houston for a long weekend for his Memorial Service. The girls have done very well with the news but we know that it’s a long process for them (and us) as well.
Thankfully, we’ve all become pretty good at traveling, too, so the trip to Houston wasn’t physically or mentally too hard.
While it’s been a hard weekend, we’ve also shared a lot of good memories, laughs and family time. Because we all agree that’s what Gramps would have wanted. So, we toasted to a great life cut too short.
And we spent some time playing with cousins and family.
It wouldn’t be a trip to celebrate Gramps without pool time, either. We’re thankful for the storms taking a break so we could enjoy it with family and friends.
It wasn’t easy without Gramps physically being there because we all know he would have been out in the pool with everybody, but we know he’s with us in spirit in our hearts.
What were you up to this week?
Since the button code stopped working many moons ago, I took it out. But, if you are adding your link to my link list, please, as a courtesy, add a link back to my site so people can explain and link up themselves if they’d like. After all, that’s the point of the link up!
It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids. Check out the inaugural Mommy and Me Monday for more information. Need another reason to participate in Mommy and Me Monday? Read my post about why I blog with words from a friends’ husband.
I saw you took a trip, but I thought just for a family visit. So sorry to hear that your father-in-law passed away. Much love to you all in this time after.
Thanks, Sarah. I didn’t really feel like it was my place to publicly say much. I appreciate it!
