Poetry and a Show | Mommy and Me Monday | 678th
On random occasions and also holidays, my grandma (the girls’ great-grandma) sends the girls books that she finds from various used book stores (Hi, grandma!).
Sometimes they pick up the books and read them immediately. Sometimes they think the books are silly. Sometimes we have a copy or two of the book already, but not all the girls have picked it up.
One night, I grabbed the newest copy of Shel Silverstein’s Where the Sidewalk Ends and asked B if I could read a poem to her.
At first, she was hesitant because the artwork was “funny”, but she let me read a couple and then offered to read some to me.
We’ve randomly been reading a few every couple nights since we started it.
(We had a laugh we we found and older copy we were sent, also with a note from my grandma, and also with a suggestion to start with the same certain poem on the same certain page!)
Later in the week, the oldest two were finally treated to their birthday present. We took them to see Jim Gaffigan.
Thankfully, the nice lady behind us saw us trying to get a picture together and offered to get one with Mr. Serious in it, too. (There is so little room between the rows!)
Captured! We all look stunning under the red/orange lights!
The show was funny and we all had some laughs. Maybe there were a couple times we pointed to each other when a joke applied to one of us. More importantly, it was a good memory and there’s no extra stuff in our house from it!
What did you do this week?
GET IN THE PICTURE WITH YOUR KIDS! Who cares what you look like? Who cares how you appear? Who cares what you are wearing? JUST DO IT! Come share your picture on the Facebook thread or use #MommyAndMeMonday!
It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids. Check out the inaugural Mommy and Me Monday for more information.
