Preventing Summer Brain Drain with Brain Chase + Giveaway
I just flipped the calendar over to May. And then I might have started hyperventilating. I just realized there are less than three weeks of school left for my bigs, and a little more than a week left for my middle little. Ack!
Thankfully, we’ve signed up for Brain Chase (check out our initial thoughts there) so the girls can have a schedule activity starting June 22nd. The girls will appreciate something new, fun and educational for them and I will appreciate that they are stretching their brains during the summer.
The Sunstone of Cortés
Check out the official Brain Chase 2015 trailer for this year’s program,The Sunstone of Cortés. There you will get a peek into this year’s animations and see an explanation for how the program works.
The Sunstone of Cortés trophy is completed and it’s pretty much the most amazing trophy I’ve ever seen.
You can even see a video of the Sunstone being made. It is about 12 inches in diameter and has mechanically rotating components that open to reveal the center compartment, where the key to retrieve the $10,000 prize will be hidden. Hmmm…wonder if those rotating parts require some sort of code?
Language Module
Previously, just a writing module was offered, but if selected, registrants can now take advantage of a new partnership with Rosetta Stone. This will allow them to participate in a language module (selecting from 30+ languages when they register) as part of their online academic work. Students will be required to complete 2 lessons (a total of a little over an hour) each week in order to fulfill their language requirement and unlock the next episode. Rosetta Stone will be part of the all-inclusive pass to the best online curriculum providers that comes with Brain Chase
Real Mail
Just like last year, there will be tangibles that will be mailed to participants like this sundial and decoder. There is also a mystery item that will be mailed out as a surprise. Who doesn’t like real mail?
Hands-On Look
If you are curious how Brain Chase will work, you can get a hands-on look around in the new dashboard demo. You can interact with last year’s dashboard for detailed explanations about how kids’ work is tracked during the program’s five weeks.
Teacher Referral Reward Program
If you are or know of a teacher, have them check out the teacher referral reward program (just send them this post!). Brain Chase is offering $15 to teachers for each of their students they refer to Brain Chase. Registrants who hear about Brain Chase from a teacher can simply enter that teacher’s name and school name at registration. Kids fight summer brain drain to win a treasure… and teachers win too! You can download flyers to share with students.
What does it cost?
Currently, Brain Chase will be offering their regular pricing package ($199 for the first registration, and then $100 for each sibling).
We are incredibly excited by this opportunity. Do you think your kids will enjoy this fun challenge?
Or, you can enter to win a registration for one as well using the Rafflecopter form below.

Wow, that looks like a great program. I’d love to try it for my son this summer!
The recipient would be my oldest child.
I am a 5th grade teacher and this looks like something my students would enjoy as well as my son! Will certainly pass along his information to my class.
My 8 year old. She loves to be challenged!
