The Sisterhood of Motherhood
Just a little less than three months ago, we all read our pieces for the first time to audition for the Listen to your Mother show in Atlanta. Since then, the 13 of us and our fearless producers have met and rehearsed three times and successfully completed our show. To say that it was amazing is a huge understatement. It was so empowering and moving and emotional and fulfilling. Basically, all of the feelings.
It was at these rehearsals and ultimately at our shows that we bonded and grew closer. We are all unified by the common thread (have you heard of the invisible red thread) of motherhood. Each of us different in our stories of motherhood, dreams of motherhood, spunky toddlers, loss of babies and mothers, memories of the past and hopes for the future and yet so much the same.
Together we laughed and cried, hugged and giggled and built each other up. There was such an amazing and overwhelming sense of positive and good coming from this group of amazing women and mothers.
The friendships and lasting bonds are sure to go beyond these hours we’ve spent together. When you are all put in the same place to share a moving story of motherhood, you know it wasn’t just by chance.
This Saturday, before our show, the fifteen of us celebrated us. Celebrated our stories of life, loss, love and longing. And, before that time we shared on stage, we all shared a toast.
A toast to new friends and motherhood uniting us.
To new found sisters and friends.
To all of these awesome moms in my sisterhood of motherhood, we raised each raised a glass of sparkling Gloria Ferrer*.
To each and every one of you: Thank you for being the supportive and strong women and moms that you are each and every day.
I’m so glad to call each and every one of you a friend and know that having you all in my life is for so many reasons.
When it’s hard to articulate (write) how grateful I am for this group of women, I know they’ve touched me deeply.
The sparking wines, convivial, social, elegant and fun, from Gloria Ferrer were perfect for our occasion and any other toast-worthy event. In fact, they are bottled expressions of the vines, hillsides, fog, wide and sky of Carneros. The wines have earned over 400 gold metals and 50 90+ scores in the last 5 years. The bubbly gave us an opportunity to take a break before the big show to toast each other and support us all as women and moms.
