Watching her fall asleep | Mommy and Me Monday | 208th ed
It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids. Check out the inaugural Mommy and Me Monday for more information. Need another reason to participate in Mommy and Me Monday? Read my post about why I blog with words from a friends’ husband.
It’s a good thing I have this blog. There are no baby books, no journals, no notes about what happens at what stage. Just the ole blog, which I happen to be thankful for. It reminds me that a) this newborn age is rough on my kiddos tummies and b) this phase too shall pass.
Most importantly, it reminds me that before I know it, she’ll be losing teeth and talking in full sentences, so even though there are million things I want to do, I need to sit and take it all in. Babies don’t keep!
The other morning after breastfeeding, she was hanging out on my lap. I looked down and noticed she got sleepy, so I pulled her up on my chest and snuggled her in. I gently rocked her and watched her fall asleep.
First the slow blinks, then they get longer and longer and finally, the eyes stay closed. Then her little body gets soft and heavy and completely relaxed. Finally, her breathing slows and changes and I can smell the sweetness of her baby breath. It makes me all mushy-gooshy and I just sit there and take it in.
So, I might not be showered, my teeth might not be brushed and dinner might be leftovers, but I’ll be here snuggling my little while she sleeps.
I try to make sure and visit all of you and leave some comment love. Please spread the love! And, I never mind the comments, either:)
Awwww, so sweet! I’m so getting baby fever over here!!
So sweet! I love that milky warm breath. I did the same yesterday…Logan wanted to nap in my arms and I enjoyed every second of it. Twice 🙂
UHGHOHHHH. I love that little bitty. I want to hold her again….. When South Pacific is over this week… I’m doing a drive baby baby holding 🙂
So sweet, love the pic. These days are fleeting – for better or worse!
I barely remember those days. I do miss having a baby around.
Yes, blogging is about the best way I’ve found to chronicle the lives of these babies. I’ll forget this madness later fo sho!!!:)
So well put, mama! Such a precious picture of you both.
How sweet she is and I am sure she doesn’t mind a bit that you haven’t showered. All she can smell is her Momma.
I miss the days when my boys were little and snuggly and they used to fall asleep on my shoulder. Sigh….
oh yes, soak it ALL in… so precious.
I have having my photo taken, so I won’t link up, but your pic is super sweet! I just want to snuggle with the baby too!
Aww that is super sweet. Those are the moments I remember best, when my kids were babies and just the snuggling of them on my chest!
Oh, how I miss those baby snuggles! Enjoy your little one!
I rocked my sick little one to sleep this weekend. Poor baby had an ear infection. She’s two and I just loved snuggling with her
Yay, love these posts! What a gorgeous, sweet picture!
Enjoy every single moment. You know, but they grow up way too fast!
That’s just precious. Who cares if you smell good, have clean teeth, or everyone has to eat leftovers. You never get those moments back so squeeze them allllllllllll in!
Awwww, you’re really enjoying this and it’s so sweet to hear how you describe it. She’s a little cherub.
What a sweet linkup!! I know that feeling you describe too of the little one falling asleep, and it is just precious.
Priceless memories…enjoy every minute. They grow so fast!
She is absolutely gorgeous! You talking about snuggling with her brings me back to when my daughter was a newborn. I can’t wait to have another! 🙂 Enjoy those moments as much as you can!
Babies are really a blessing and a gift from God. We need to cherish, love, and care for them the way our heavenly Father also do to us. 🙂
Beautiful post. What a sweet little one!
i have no pictures of me with any of my kids when they were tiny. who cares if you aren’t showered or haven’t brushed teeth? the newborn stage, as we all know, flies by. enjoy the snuggles for me, ok?
So precious!!! Totally giving me baby fever!
What a sweet photo. When my boys were little I would get annoyed that my husband took so many photos. But, now that they are 16 and 4 — I love having those memories.
I miss those new baby days! It’s true that babies don’t keep. I keep wondering where all the time went with my sweet FIVE year old! It’s great that you are taking the time to cherish these moments with your little one. She’s totally adorable!
I miss the days of just snuggling with my babies! You bring back many memories!
She is such a sweetie! My son is one and a half and I Can’t believe he is no longer my little boy any more.
I love this picture! I have been trying to sit down and enjoy the moments while Baby D is still so little. Life is crazy adjusting to having two kids, but I just cannot resist watching him fall asleep in my arms.
Newborn sleep is precious. My daughter is 4 weeks old and I too could stare at her the entire 3 hours until her next feeding. They are only this little for a short while…showers can wait!! LOL
What a sweet baby! They grow up so fast…if I were to just watch my daughter sleep, she would think I was crazy!
Awe, my DD doesn’t fall asleep on my much anymore. She is a very active three year old but I cherish the times she does.
What a sweet post… Our babies used to make us shed a tear of joy. I would sit and stare at them… precious.
Beautiful baby! I love doing this with my daughter Amelia. Its the most peaceful satisfying thing in the world.
I know what you mean…
In a blink of an eye – they grow so fast!!!!
I loved cuddling up with my newborns. My youngest is 16 months and he’s not much for cuddling anymore.
i never ever ever ever want to forget that feeling…that total body melt into your arms, chest and heart. pretty much the best thing ever. sooo glad you are soaking it up!
I have a blog just like this. Every moment is so special and I find it easier to keep a digital baby book that I can use via the phone.
gorgeous. that age is priceless. watching them sleep is the best thing…
Aww, how precious! This is one of the many reasons why I miss my kids this small!
How sweet! She is such a precious little bundle!
That is such a beautiful photo of both of you together. Someone recently asked me about a mommy and me monday as well since I’m always the one behind the camera. 🙂
You should totally link up this week! I think our kids will appreciate it one day:)
So sweet hearing you describe her falling asleep. I feel the exact same way about my 2 month old!
How precious! Your baby is just adorable!
I love to watch my kids sleep…especially after a day or particularly rough behavior. It reminds me how sweet my kiddos really are!!!
Awww she’s such a cutie pie. Those moments are the best aren’t they? 🙂
