Dessert.  Not to be confused with Desert.

(My fourth grade teacher helped us come up with a way to remember which was which.  You always want more dessert, so it has more “s”s.  Most people don’t care so much for deserts with all of the sand and everything!)

Some people say it’s the best part of a meal.  Of course, we tend to agree!  Pies, cookies, cupcakes, and more.  You name it, we want to eat it!  (Okay, in all fairness, we sometimes eat fruit for dessert, too.)

When we have a get together with friends, one of the things we always have to work out is who is going to bring dessert.  Often, I get to bring it.  And, I try to find fun new things to bring (truffles, easy toffee, store bought pies and more).  I like to mix things up.  I think our friends like my variety, too.

yummy pies

One of my favorite dessert with friends involved a pie, directions and a cookie sheet.  Our friend was reading the directions, and got stuck at one spot….the cookie sheet.  He had no idea what a cookie sheet was.  Like none. No idea where to look for it, what shape it might be, or what it was used for.  It was hilarious to say the least.  We all laughed for what seemed like forever.  And, an hour later, we also enjoyed our delicious pie!  And, then we might have laughed again later when we brought over cookie dough that had to be cooked.  What ever would we put it on to cook?  Yep, the elusive cookie sheets.

Needless to say, we bring over “cookie sheet” required desserts whenever possible.  It’s something yummy, and always sets a great mood!

  1. I am not a huge dessert fan, but I love to make sweets with my little ones! For Thanksgiving, we worked together as a family to make pies from scratch. The girls made an apple pie, and the boys made a pumpkin pie. They weren’t the prettiest pies, but they sure were tasty!

    1. Oh, pies are all about the taste and nothing about the look for me…apple pie sounds delicious.

  2. Dessert is truly my favorite part of a meal. My favorite dessert is usually something not too rich, not too messy – I ADORE a good apple crumble or peach cobbler (hot, of course)!

    1. Oh, cobbles and crumbles are delicious..yes hot…and a la mode…my favorite is Blue Bell homemade vanilla.
