Easy Holiday Shopping with ISIS wallet and Verizon Wireless

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Ambassadors SE Voices program and have been provided with a wireless device in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.

Admittedly, I don’t do the whole “black Friday” shopping thing. I think I didn’t get that gene because pretty much everybody else in my family did! They love their black Friday shopping. More importantly, they love a good deal and they love their technology. So the perfect pairing is the ISIS mobile wallet.

What is ISIS Mobile Wallet

The ISIS mobile wallet app, currently available in the google play store (and hopefully, the iTunes store, too). It allows you pay for purchases in store by “tapping your phone” against a terminal at the cash register. ISIS securely stores your bank account, debit cards, and credit cards, as well as store loyalty cards so you can easily lighten your load (and if you are anything like me, your keyring, too).

It is quite simple to use the ISIS Mobile Wallet app. The most important thing being that your smart device must have Near Field Communication (NFC) compatibility as well as an enhanced SIM card. Not all phones have NFC and the enhanced SIM card yet, so make sure to check the current list of ISIS ready devices.

Saving with ISIS Mobile Wallet

  • Tap to Pay. The Isis Mobile Wallet holds virtual versions of many things your existing wallet does including your credit cards from participating providers. Just tap your phone to pay at any Isis-Ready merchant.
  • Save with offers. Your offers, deals and promotions are also stored in the Wallet, so you always have them with you, organized and ready to use.
  • Simplify loyalty cards. You can also add your loyalty cards from participating merchants. You know, the ones crowding your keychain and weighing down your wallet.

You set up an American Express Serve account within within the ISIS mobile wallet app. Serve is a  re-loadable prepaid account, that you can load, or auto deduct using your credit card, debit card or bank account. If you set up your Serve account using the mobile app, there is no charge with your Serve account (using your credit card and/or debit card can be charged fees by your bank, so make sure you check).

There are some great deals and steals that all ISIS customers are eligible for that will carry through black Friday and all the way into the new year (if not beyond).

Security Features of ISIS Wallet

ISIS wallet security

Crazy to think about, but the ISIS mobile wallet is actually safer than your physical wallet. And, odds are, you would recognize your phone had gone missing way before your wallet (on average, it takes 4 minutes for a phone, and over 20 for a wallet!)

It’s safer because the information stored for the app is done on the enhanced SIM Card. If your phone is lost or stolen, no one would be able to access your bank or credit card details. All you need to do is make a quick call to Verizon’s Customer Service and ask them to freeze your ISIS Mobile Wallet so that no one can get into or use your account.

When you set up ISIS you are required to set a 4-digit PIN, which allows you to log in to make a purchase. Within the app it uses a dynamic CVV (the three digit code on the back of a credit card), so nobody could guess the number or even have access to it!

I’m a little bummed this hasn’t made it’s way to apple devices, but hoping they get together soon and make it happen!

  11. I’ve seen a couple of reviews of this and all are positive. NOnetheless, this woldn’t be for me. I’m not in the U.S., don’t own a smartphone, and I’m not convinced of its security. Give me the good ol’wallet.

  12. I don’t know if this is the case everywhere, but where I live, it seems like it’s necessary to have a hundred of those silly store loyalty cards in order to save anything. I feel like I’m always making the poor cashiers look up my card with my phone number or other personal info. This app seems like it would make both my life and their lives so much easier. 🙂
