Potty training isn’t fun. Let’s just say that. I’ve never had a kiddo that did it on their own. There has always been work and parties and setbacks, but we’ve pretty much got 3/4 completely done.

I don’t know if it’s a girl thing or not, but we go through A TON of toilet paper. When I’m at the store, for anything else, it’s a rule to just pick up more! And, I don’t know why it took me so long to realize this, but they are quite egregious with their use of the TP stuff. Like most of the time, they are using way too much for their needs.

“Mommy, is this enough toilet paper?” is often yelled from the bathroom and when I get there, I see a pile of it like this the floor.

So, I wanted to figure out a way to visually remind them of a more appropriate amount to use.

Using my Silhouette machine, I cut out some various shapes on scraps of permanent vinyl. I then let E decide which stickers she wanted to mark the cabinet. If you don’t have a vinyl cutting machine, you could easily use any sticker you wanted. I decided to use this because it’s permanent and because I know my girls would pick a sticker right off the cabinet.

I measured out where the appropriate amount of paper would hit the cabinet (or wall) and placed my arrow stickers on there.

And viola, now they know what the right amount of toilet paper is without asking me to double check it for them. And, we won’t end up wasting / using so much toilet paper every week.
