First college race and we “watched” from home | Mommy and Me Monday | 813th ed
Once we had kiddos in high school and middle school racing on the same day at the same time, things got interesting. We all couldn’t be at all the races. But, at least one of us was there to watch and cheer. And we’d text or call back and forth with race updates. But now that we’ve added a college runner to the high school and middle school mix, the numbers aren’t in our favor. Nor is distance.
The oldest had her first college race this past weekend in another state. It wasn’t feasible for us to be there to watch and cheer. (Side note…we have to figure out how to connect with other team parents!)
So we did the next best thing and “watched” the live results online. As fun as that sounds, with no mid-race mats to give us an indication of time, we had to wait for runners to finish their race and the results to upload.
This is a pretty accurate reenactment of what that’s like watching. Especially not knowing any of the other runners and having an idea of where they might finish.

When her name finally popped up, we cheered! She wasn’t super impressed with her time, but after a morning of classes, a 4 hour bus ride and racing in 85+ plus temps, and still finishing 5th on her team and getting points, we are all very proud of her.
And after a while of looking at the results, they added pictures to the top finishers for each team.
It’s like we were “almost” there. And thankfully, the plan for this weekend involves us driving to see the race and getting to watch her run! And with middle and high school at the same race, I’ll get to see everybody run this weekend!
Middle school had a off week this week, so I was able to head to the high school race (an hour away at sunrise!) to watch N race! In that excitement, I failed to take a picture!
What did you do this week?
GET IN THE PICTURE WITH YOUR KIDS! Who cares what you look like? Who cares how you appear? Who cares what you are wearing? JUST DO IT! Come share your picture on the Facebook thread or use #MommyAndMeMonday!
