Moms.  I’m starting a petition.  And, a club, okay, not really, but let’s pretend.

It’s called MADst.  Moms Against Daylight Savings Time.

After 3 days of having kids wake up between 5-5:30 am, I’m done.  I think daylight savings time during the summer is just silly talk.  Let’s just keep the time the same for the entire year.  I don’t get it.

My girls don’t get it either.

Despite them going to bed at their “normal” (new) time, they are still waking up at their regular old time and I’m exhausted.  I’m not looking for a preview to February.  Momma needs her sleep.

If it’s all rainbows and unicorns at your house, please don’t tell me.

Just pretend, tell me you’ll sign my {fake} petition and go on with your great sleeping, good time adjusting kids!

I’m off to take a nap!

  1. I’m with you, this is sheer silliness! Last night when it got dark here at 6:30 pm it brought back memories from when I was a teenager, about 13, and my dad decided to institute a simple curfew of “before dark” as in, “be home before it’s dark.” In the summer? Awesome? Come November, “Are you serious dad?”

  2. I too have had 3 days of kids getting up at 5am. I too am done! I will sign the petition time 5.

    1. Has it gotten better for you? We still have had several days of pre-6am waking.

      1. Yes, finally this sunday the kids began to sleep till their normal 6/6:30 wake up time. I think we have seen the last of 5am. Thank God!

  3. It’s happening a bit here too. I would totally sing your petition.

    1. I’m totally over it! Two weeks later and things are only slightly better!

  4. I’ll sign!!! I disagree with daylight savings.

Maybe I should move to Arizona.

    1. Arizona is sounding pretty good. But, I do hear there are a lot of scorpions there!

  5. You have my signature!!! I miss AZ, only state that does not have daylight savings, this is my 2nd year, and I think its just crazy!!

    1. I can’t imagine going from no DST to having it. Yuck! And, with 3 little ones to adjust (you are actually the second triplet momma to comment), you’ve got it three times as much!

  6. Stephanie says:

We let them stay up an hour late the first day instead of doing normal bedtime and made sure to wear them out too. They woke up like 15-20 min earlier yesterday but today was a normal day. Finally back on schedule! I’m just not looking forward to the one where we LOSE an hour….bleh!

    1. So glad it worked for you! I think my kids are just super stubborn…not sure where they get it:)

  7. I will sign this and then sign it again and again and again! Whoever decided on this “law” or program or whatever it is obviously did not have small children!

    1. Seriously…or they wanted them up at the crack of dawn to work on the farm?

  8. If you only lived in Indiana, where they don’t change their clocks… doesn’t Indiana just sounds awesome 🙂

It’s not rainbows here, E is waking up a hour earlier, the boys are good though. It will work itself out.

Just not soon enough for you. Sorry.

    Petition signed.

    1. Wait, so Indiana and Arizona? That’s two potential states now…hmmmm…

  9. grabbing pen and signing on the dotted line!

hope you got your nap on today 🙂

  10. I don’t even have kids and I’ll sign it.

It’s pretty aggravating to wake up, look at the clock and see you still have 52 minutes before the alarm goes off. But what good is 52 minutes? Just enough to get back in a deep sleep then OFF IT GOES!

    Oh, I’m signing…

    1. Oh, yeah, I hate that part, too…on the rare chance that I get those 52 minutes:)

  11. I honestly don’t understand the point of DST…. I just don’t get it.

    Kindness is the best accessory,

  12. Well, I don’t have kids that are screwed up with their sleep habits, but I do have 6 doggies that are, not to mention my sleep habits. It is total chaos in our house.
    Hand over the petition… where do I sign??? {{{YAWN}}}

    1. We’re like 2 weeks out, right? I think our kids are FINALLY getting it. Hoping your pups get it soon, too.
