A Better Breakfasts with a Smoothie Bowl
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so the experts say. And, I think my kids agree. Sometimes we don’t agree on what is the best breakfast for them. They tend to want carb and starchy loaded breakfasts, but I want them to get some protein and fruit. So, when they are feeling in the mood, we whip up a smoothie bowl for a better breakfast. Because with school in full swing, it’s important that the kiddos enjoy a better-for-you breakfast that will help keep them fueled throughout the day.
We are not strangers to smoothie bowls and have come up with an assortment of different ingredients to add to them. While traveling, my sister had a bunch of frozen fruit for us, so it was time to make a smoothie bowl for them. And yeah, I had some too.
The Smoothie Bowl
In a blender, I used some kale medley (but any greens will work), along with frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mangoes and pineapple and some apple Juicy Juice. I didn’t really measure anything because you can sort of wing it and it turns out great! (Notice, no bananas for us, we are no-banana smoothie people, but check out those recipes!) I blended it up in Vitamix blender until smooth. Then it went into a bowl topped with some more frozen fruit, flax seed, hemp seed, chia seed and a scoop of nut butter.
There were 6 cousins available, but only the oldest would let me snap a picture of her with her smoothie bowl. But, I’ll take it. I’m more concerned about them having a better breakfast than pictures.
