Sprucing up the playroom
A couple years ago, we decided we weren’t using our dining room for it’s purpose. It was just sitting as a place for us to make piles and not really use it. The girls were sharing a bedroom and needed a place to play/color and do their homework.
We decided we would clear the room out, move the dining room table to the living room and get the girls their own table for work and play as well as some storage drawers for their crafts. We headed to IKEA, made the purchase and put it together to surprise the girls that night.
They were pretty happy about it and still are. Not only has it been super handy for homework and artwork, but it’s been a great table for which the kids to entertain their friends. They love setting it up with placemats, napkins and grown up place settings.
Last week, while I was in Houston, some friends, including Kecia, were hosted at IKEA to check out their newest catalog additions (check out #IKEAcataLOVE)Â and other fun new things (grilled chicken kids meals, anybody?)
If you notice in our playroom, we are in need of some curtains. In fact, the oldest just asked me yesterday to get them some. Look at these great choices! At $4.99 a panel, I can get a couple and not feel horrible if they don’t stay in the best shape! (You should see that room now, they have covered the walls with taped-up pictures tacked onto the walls.) I need to think about lighting too; a floor lamp from Kichler Lighting may be just the thing.

I will definitely be headed up to the store (once the kiddos go back to school) to check out the curtains and maybe a little more storage for the girls playroom.

We used our dining room as a playroom for awhile which worked well until our eat in kitchen area became the dog’s bedroom. 🙂
Oh, no. Hope you can get it back…one day:)
IKEA is the Disneyland of furniture
It sure is!
Can’t wait to see what curtains you pick. I always ogle the fabric section when I hit up IKEA.
They have some of the best fabrics! Our guest room has some from years ago and people still love it!
We were just at Ikea this weekend. It was super crowded. Fortunate for us we knew what we were going for. Found the items and proceeded to the check outs. A very nice store employee showed us the short cut to get to where we needed to be.
The weekends are really crowded here, too!
What did you end up buying?
Those curtains are pretty neat – and I love all of the choices
