Staying charged up
Back at the beginning of the year, I wrote a letter to myself reminding myself that I was slowly going to work on getting back in shape.
I’m not sure I’ve been truly working towards that goal. I did have several days in Disneyland where I took more than 25,000 steps, so I’ve been wearing my fitbit every day and counting those steps.
I’m trying to be more aware of my water intake. I know that I’m still not getting enough and with breastfeeding and how hot it is outside, I need to do better.
The eating and the snacking? Well, that hasn’t really changed either because I’m all about the snacks (I’m pretty sure B is going through a growth spurt, too because she’s eating a lot more lately)!
Zone Perfect sent me a variety of their bars to help keep me fueled and charged up as well as a portable chargers to keep my phone charged up and help keep me moving (Pandora while walking, anybody?)
Zone Perfect is suggesting easy substitutions to make a healthy swap in what we eat. A perfect example for us is to swap spaghetti for spaghetti squash. Since I’ve cut gluten (all of the Perfectly Simple bars are gluten-free) and dairy, (which is only the Perfectly Simple: Cranberry Almond and Peanut Crunch) I’m all about making swaps in my food that help keep everybody happy.
I’m finding replacing food as a much better option then trying to use a bunch of “gluten-free” products. It makes my brain and body feel better!
You can save up to $10, by becoming a Become A ZonePerfect® VIP. Your first coupon will be emailed to you! The $10 savings is over the course of one year and may vary.
Zone Perfect has sent me an extra pocket/lipstick/travel charger to help keep you charged up and on the move. Want to win one? Leave a meaningful comment below. (So, not “I want to win.” Or “thanks for the chance!” Can’t come up with anything? Answer this question: “What are you doing to stay active and fit going into this summer season?“
Thanks for the swap suggestions! We love spaghetti squash, but I always forget about it!
I’ve actually been taking part in the Blog Forward challenge this year. It’s been fun! This month, I have challenged myself to do SOMETHING for a mile a day. It can be walking, running, biking or elliptical (or whatever.) I just have to keep it up for a mile a day.
That’s a great challenge. I guess it has to be consecutive, right? Because my fitbit says I walk more than a mile a day, but yeah, that doesn’t really count, does it!
So good to know that ZonePerfect emails coupons for bars! I’m coaching a girls basketball camp in the Middle East this summer, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter bars are already on my list for both the flight and when I need some fuel at camp.
I recently learned kayaking AND mountain biking. Bars like these zoneperfect bars are always a go-to I keep in my pack!
Congrats, Candy! Random.org picked #4! And that’s you! Sending you an email!
Fantastic! Thanks a lot!
I’m all about ground turkey. I swapped sorbet last night for my usual ice cream. That’s at least moving in the right direction, right?
Sorbet…..yes! Definitely good…unless you eat the entire pint at one time. Not that I know what that’s like!
I would love to win this! LOL – I have been exercising at home, partly to get fit, and partly to lose a little (or a lot) of weight for the summer (which is already here!). We have a few fun runs scheduled for myself and my daughter – they really are fun, and a great way to have a good time, get healthy, help a good cause, and socialize in real life. We also start swim lessons soon. During the summer we are out and about A LOT so having a portable charger would be really useful.
personal trainer and gym
My husband swaps out ground turkey for almost every recipe we have, even burgers! It’s a great swap in tacos too!
I have been making simple swaps to my recipes as well and dusting off the #GracoJogger! 🙂
I just made meatloaf with half hamburger and half ground turkey. we’ve mostly made the switch to ground turkey though.
What am I doing to stay fit this summer? I am going to continue eating my fruit and veggies and working out. It’s summer, so I will be making more COOL smoothies to stay refreshed and exercise outside. I got a bike for Mothers Day, and I will be putting it use weekly. I am also starting a summer blog series so that will keep me accountable!
I tried spaghetti squash earlier last year and wasn’t a fan. It could be the way it was cooked though (it was at Ruby Tuesdays).
I would love to win this charger, would be great for baseball weekends!
I think the key is what you put on it…like olive oil or marinara or meat sauce! It isn’t very flavorful plain!
I bought a very small, basic step counter the other month and I find it helps motivate me to get OFF my butt in the office and do a quick loop around the floor. It is amazing how many steps that will add to my day. I also started parting farther away to get steps in (and will soon be parking MUCH farther away with my new car!!). Most day that I work, I only get 4-6K steps. If I can manage to hit the treadmill over lunch I can get to the 10K target.
