When you run out of time | Mommy and Me Monday | 470th ed
When you write a title for your post and the double meaning totally isn’t lost on you…and by you, I mean me.
I was coming here to write how the weekend turned into a crazy weekend with lots of errands and running and the week got away from me and I just ran out of time to get a picture. So, it was a last ditch effort to grab the picture and the subjects were pretty much less than willing.
But, the time running out is really even true in the literal sense.
Friday, I got a text from my grandmother that my grandfather was in the hospital with pneumonia.
I spoke to my grandmother on the phone Friday afternoon and she told me my grandpa would be going home Saturday or Sunday.
What I didn’t expect was the call from my mother Saturday evening that my grandpa had passed away.
I was going to call Saturday or send a note to see how he was feeling. But, I didn’t. The thought crossed my mind and I got distracted.
My grandpa’s time has run out on this Earth, but knowing that he was at peace and no longer in any pain makes it a little easier for us to deal with.
So, I’m thankful for the time that we did take to grab a Mommy and Me Monday picture from years ago (191st edition).
And I’m thankful my grandparents were there for so many important times in our girls’ lives! In fact, they were our first family visitors when our oldest was born and then came again for her baptism.
This was supposed to be all poetic and not cohesive turning to cohesive and it really just makes me sad I didn’t spend a little more time on the phone with him last Sunday.
Take the pictures. Capture the memories. You never know when you will run out of time.

I’m sorry about your grandpa. I know he relished getting to know all his great grandgirls!
