FTP Recovering on the floor | Mommy and Me Monday | 603rd ed

For the past 5 weeks, I’ve been doing a power zone fitness challenge with the Power Zone Pack. If you ride an indoor bike, I highly recommend it. You use your own fitness levels and data to increase your endurance and also test yourself.

This weekend was test time. It had been 2.5 months since my last test. So, I knew I needed to do it. But also, I didn’t want to do it. It’s meant to push you to your absolute limits for 20 straight minutes.

Friday, I donated blood, and Saturday, I had to get the oldest to her bus for a race at 5:30am…so I knew I needed to wait until Sunday. But then Sunday…I still didn’t want to do it.

But, I did it. And I didn’t die, but I was fairly certain I was close. Most of the ride, my heart rate was over 180bpm.

Everybody knows they can’t come talk to me or ask me questions, but N kept coming and just poking her head out. She just wanted to make sure I was okay.

At the end of the ride, I unclipped as fast as I could and went to the grass because I was certain I was going to lose everything in my stomach.

I’m still not sure how I did.

I couldn’t get in control of my breath.

My heart was beating like 5000 beats a minute (slight hyperbole here).

Once I was kind of sure I wasn’t going to barf, I laid on the floor. And stayed there for a solid 10 minutes.

Of course, this breaks pretty much every rule I know about health and exercise…and what I tell the girls to do after their runs, and I didn’t care.

N still came and checked on me and sat with me while I tried to get my breathing under control.

She was even brave enough to lay next to me when I asked her to.

I finally felt like I could lift my arms up and snap a picture.

This is why I said she was brave. I know I was stinky and really sweaty. So much so that I took a sweat angel picture after laying on the floor. Everything was salty and wet.

But, I finished the ride. I improved my FTP score by 6%…and I don’t have to do it again for a while!
