The kids say mommy and me Monday recently is about a race or a run and that there aren’t any good stories anymore.

Well, we’ve got a story time this week.

The older two had later races at the meet this weekend, so I drove them about 1.5 hours to the race, spectated and then we made our way home.

On the way home, we saw the track coach pulled over the side of the road with his hazards on. (Pulling the team trailer really makes it noticeable). So I called him. He ran out of gas.

I offered to go get some and bring it to him. We purchased a little can, filled it up with gas and tried to loop back on the freeway to get it to him.

Unfortunately, he was pulled over too close to the exit on the left shoulder and I couldn’t make it over in time.

So, we looped around again, but this time went an exit further up. (Houston people and those with feeders do not appreciate how well you all have it- this was not anywhere near as easy as Houston).

This exit wasn’t a direct loop back to the freeway, but it was far enough out that we were able to get across the freeway safely and get him the gas (he was on the shoulder on the HOV side, so it was crazy).

Then he went to start his vehicle and the battery had died while using the hazard lights. So, we took like 30 min to do all of this and he had to call 511 (it’s Atlanta roadside assistance, which he said originally he couldn’t get anybody)…so we left him there bc he had the trailer with like thousands of gear in it. I think he had to wait over an hour for them to come and I’m assuming jump his vehicle!

This is us trying to remain cool and calm and hoping we did the right thing, but also realizing that it was kind of scary and we are glad it worked out okay for everybody.
