The week that dangles between Christmas and New Year’s Eve and the return of school and work is always a tricky one. Trying to figure out how to get back to the routine while working though the tired and over-scheduledness (apparently, that is a word).

After taking almost an entire year to get back together with friends, we gathered with them and had food and drinks and fun. Of course, we always end up staying way too late and the kids crashed on the way home.

Apparently, B didn’t get enough car sleep because I came around the corner and found her out. Where she slept for a couple hours with the crazy of our life all around her.

Later, while I was trying to get some work done, she found me and was still not ready to fully wake up. I don’t get snuggles a lot anymore so I’ll take them when I can. I only snapped a picture because Mr. Serious had sent me a text asking me how my check list was going. This was my response.

They went to school, I got back to doing some work and Mr. Serious headed back into work, and the routine was back to normal.

Saturday morning, I was awake and hanging out in bed and B came to get more snuggles. Then she asked to take some pictures together. Naturally with silly faces.

It took E a few more days to realize she was still tired. After church and lunch, she watched some football with Mr. Serious. And before we knew it, she was out. Our kids don’t typically fall asleep like this, so I’m hoping this is the rest and recovery they need to get through this full week!

Next week’s goal is to make sure to snap more pictures. With the kids, or just the kids, but to stop and capture them! And to make sure they are all getting enough rest!!

What did you do this week?

GET IN THE PICTURE WITH YOUR KIDS! Who cares what you look like? Who cares how you appear? Who cares what you are wearing? JUST DO IT! Come share your picture on the Facebook thread or use #MommyAndMeMonday!

  1. That’s how I feel, too! I skipped a few activities this past week and slept through them all. Now, I need tea and MORE rest!
