It’s no secret that public school teachers are spending hundreds of their own dollars to buy supplies they need for their classrooms. It’s expensive to have a classroom, and buy supplies for it. When I was teaching, I got $50 A YEAR to spend on classroom supplies. That wasn’t even enough to cover my dry erase marker budget.
Thanks to this partnership with SONIC, I’m sharing more about their Limeades for Learning and Donor’s Choose initiative.
SONIC saw this need and created Limeades for Learning as a way to help offset some of the teachers costs by providing funding for the supplies and resources they need.
SONIC is participating in Fall Voting with Limeades for Learning philanthropic initiative
Recognizing public school teachers needed more support, SONIC Drive-In partnered with DonorsChoose.org ten years ago to create Limeades for Learning. SONIC has donated more than $13.1 million, providing learning materials and teaching resources to impact nearly one million students.
SONIC is a long-time supporter of public school teachers through its philanthropic initiative Limeades for Learning®. During Fall Voting, Sept. 30-Oct. 27, fans will vote for teachers’ projects to determine how SONIC will donate $1 million throughout the month. During the four-week period of Fall Voting, anyone can vote to make a difference and positively impact public schools in their communities, without spending a dime!
Donor’s Choose
SONIC’s Limeades for Learning program is celebrating its annual Fall Voting campaign. Monday, September 30 through Sunday, October 27, you can help public school teachers by voting for projects that inspire you. Through Fall Voting, SONIC puts its $1 million donation in the hands of SONIC fans, asking them to decide where the funds go by voting for teacher projects at LimeadesforLearning.com.
During the four-week voting period, the projects with the most votes at the end of each week will receive funding from SONIC. Projects that didn’t receive funding that week will have their votes carry over into the following weeks.
Anyone can join SONIC and make a huge difference for public school teachers simply by voting.
There are three ways to earn votes for teacher projects throughout the Fall Voting campaign:
Vote once daily after signing up with a valid email address
Visit a SONIC Drive-In to get a bag sticker code worth two votes
Vote ten times to receive three extra votes via email
I was excited to ask friends for their classroom projects and teachers to make a donation. Sonic sent me a $200 Donor’s Choose gift card which I immediately put to good use at our own local elementary as well as several others in the area.

I gave some to one of our daughter’s teachers last year. Her idea was for a bookshelf for her classroom so kids could bring in books from home to share with each other.

I have never given to Donor’s Choose. I would like to support a project in my state, such as the Creating an Ensemble request.
