Cinco de Mayo|Kikkoman Ponzu
I had no idea that Kikkoman made a sauce that can be used for Mexican food, like carne asada and mango salsa. Learn something new, every day, right?
Ponzu is a citrus seasoned dressing and sauce that delivers the perfect balance of salty, tangy and sweet. It comes in both lemon and lime which help to bring out delicious citrus flavors in Mexican dishes such as carne asada, fajitas and salsa! We used these sauces to create a pre-Cinco de Mayo having a ¡Kikko de Mayo Fiesta! Of course, these sauces are fat-free!
The sauces can be used right from the bottle as a salad dressing, marinade or dipping sauce in a variety of delicious recipes. Visit Kikkoman Homecooks and click on Kikko de Mayo for fun recipes and to download your own coupon for a free Ponzu with purchase of any Kikkoman sauce!
We marinated a flank/skirt steak in the lime Ponzu over night with a couple other ingredients on their recipe page to create some delicious meat for fajitas. The meat really took the flavor well. We’ve never made homemade fajitas before, and we will definitely be doing these again (I don’t/can’t eat fresh garlic, so we left that out of the marinade).
I also made the Mango Ponzu Salsa. Wow. It was fabulous. I shared some at work, too, and everybody “oohhed” and “ahhed” over it. I added yellow bell peppers, but I think red would have been better and given it more color. I also left out the green onions as I am not a fan.
The Ponzu sauce along with the fajitas and the salsa gave me a great reminder of the delicious Tex-Mex food I miss so much. The hardest part of this whole meal was peeling the jicama for the salsa. This meal will definitely be created again at our house.

I love tacos, that is our favorite Mexican dish and we have them at least once a week in some form. Thanks so much for hosting such a great giveaway! Eloise furygirl3132[at]comcast[dot]net

I had no idea either!!! I love Mexican food!! Your meal looks delicious!!!
I'm totally going to have to try this!
Agree! Delicious pics… I suppose this is all part of product development and the globalization/localization trend. One of those moments when what my hubby preached to me actually makes some sense.
I've been using Kikkoman since birth (Chinese upbringing) and my fiance loves the cooking! This new sauce sounds awesome and I'd love to venture into new Mexican food – we haven't celebrated Cinco de Mayo since college; thanks for the reminder!
We usually celebrate it with a meal. My son helps make homemade tortillas, I think this year I will make enchilladas.
