First time

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. I MAY EARN FROM QUALIFYING PURCHASES.

Today marks the first day I was cussed out by a student this semester (because yes, it happens every semester). Just a little over 3 weeks in.

It’s really not important what he said, but just a little FYI:

Apparently, 16 year olds also need naps during school (just like my 2 year old), even at 10am. And apparently, waking them up and telling them they are too old to be taking a nap? Grounds for dropping some choice words.

Off to call his mom shortly!

  1. UGH! Sorry you had to go through that. Teachers are just not paid enough!

  2. I agree w/ Wendy..teachers are not paid near enough!!
I cant believe he cussed you out..WOW!

  3. DUDE! I so couldn’t be a teacher cause I would have to lay the smack down on these rude kids. Sorry you had to deal with that. Can we wash his mouth out with soap or something as punishment.

  4. That is one of the many reasons I got out of the education field. Hope your day gets better. I bet when you called his mom, she was probably sleeping too. lol

  5. That is PRECISELY why I would NOT teach high school! But, someone has got to do it. I’ll leave that to you. 🙂

    Sorry about that though.

  6. WOW. Good luck with the parents!!! Sixteen sounds like it will be such a fun age 🙁

  7. That’s why I love kindergarteners! Most of them don’t know those words and if they do get cranky, nap time is okay!

  8. How do you deal with that everyday. You have a special place in Heaven.

  9. Oh yes, being cussed at by a student. Tell me how bad it is that I’ve been cussed out by a first grader.

Oh wait, and a 4 year old.

  10. I am sorry. I think it is ridiculous that we teachers have to put up with such behavior. I was told by my foreign teacher friends that they do no have this problem in their schools.

I called a mom about her child that was cussing at me and giving me all sorts of attitude and problems. She answered me by saying “What do you want me to do? He does the same to me at home.”

    and….who is the parent here???

Good luck my dear… I am glad that I am retired and don’t have to put up with all of this any more.

  12. Oh UGH. 16 year olds think they know everything and obviously, if the kid had good parents, he wouldn’t talk that way to begin with. What is WRONG with people these days?!

  13. Are you kidding me?! I am fuming for you. This makes me so angry.

  14. Yes, I am amazed at what comes out of children’s mouths sometimes. I work at an elementary school and the first time I was told to f*@# off by a 5 year old…I about died. Seriously…it was ridiculous. I so feel for you, at least mine are smaller in stature if nothing else. Hang in there…

  15. i remember those kids from school… impressive that it took 3 weeks this time

  16. Its sad to hear that the parents dont seem to care about their childs education or bahavior in school. Hopefully enough discipline from within the school, will help shape that kiddo up. You know what they say, “sometimes they act out because they want to be disciplined cause it shows you care”.

  17. That’s awful!!!

We had a teacher in my high school who rang a cow bell in our ear if we fell asleep. Yeah… it was… awesome. 😉

One of my friends in high school fell asleep in his 6th period class… the teacher let him sleep. He woke up with a puddle of drool all over his table that was dripping off the desk. Nice, right??? The whole class was looking at him AND he had to stay after and clean it. LOL!

  18. Wow, I am so sorry about that! I am at a total loss of words!!

  19. Wow… I would never even think of cussing out a teacher! Some people just amaze me! Geez! sorry about that!

  20. Smart A$$ Mom says:

What? I’d kick my kids a$$.

  21. what a BRAT with a capitol B! That stinks big time!

  22. Been there, done that…..

Isn’t it crazy that some parents write their kids off in high school? They are still children. They need their parents!!

I had a girl come to me sobbing today because her mom told her to move out. Now, I am sure that this girl wasn’t perfect….but throw her out?? She is 17!!!!!

    Drives me crazy!!

  23. I got cussed out by a mom today…because I was calling her because her son wouldn’t do anything, was bothering other students and was cussing at me under his breath. I asked if she wanted to talk to him she told me NO, that’s my job. I didn’t know being a parent had certain hours. I sent his horrible, mean, disrespectful rude self to the office. I am sure mom will call a meeting to yell at me again (yes, it’s the 4th time she has been like this) and I will refuse to attend.

  24. Those are the ones that you can never get ahold of! They never have working numbers!!

I will stick with 5 and 7 year olds. :o)

  25. We have some kids that do that to teachers every once in a while…I just stare in awe because if I EVER did that or remotely thought about it my mom would come unglued on me!!

    Love, Mere

  26. None of them work….figures! I’ve had some like that too. Frustrating! Suspended?

  27. Totally why this kid thought it was safe to cuss you out.

He knew his parentst didn’t care either…..

    Sucks!
