I DID IT! Mommy and Me Monday| 167th ed

It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. If you haven’t seen me mention it, I’m doing a run-fun at Disney in a little less than 2 weeks. I’m nothing if not redundant. Just ask Mr. Serious.

Well, if you didn’t know {shame on you. okay, kidding. sort of}, I have to run 2 miles in 26 minutes or less. I know that’s a joke and laughable to most people, but not me.

But, this weekend? E and I? WE DID IT! 2 miles in 25.5 minutes in our hilly neighborhood. This is the victory shot! (I actually took a screenshot of my phone, but it’s not as cute as she is!)

Finally broke the 13 minute mile mark

Turns out, running/walking in 1 minute intervals is faster for me then “jogging” the whole time. Who knew? So, intervals it is since I doubt I’ll end up getting any faster in two weeks.

I feel so much better about signing up now that I know I can do it.

But, I’m secretly hoping that the circuit is all flat, or maybe even downhill so I can shave off a little more time. Maybe? I can hope, right?

  2. I’ve been getting back into Couch to 5k lately, but the hills in our neighborhood are killing me. Good luck shaving time off

      To be honest, as long as I’m under the 13 min/mil mark, I’ll be happy!

    1. I wish I could take credit for the idea..it was suggested to me!

  4. Yay! I’m fairly certain the track will be mostly flat, and that means an even faster time for you! We Georgians don’t get a break with these hills…..

    1. I sure hope so. The hills are brutal. i’ve even tried to do just the flatter parts of the neighborhood, and those are still hilly!

  5. Congrats! It has to feel great knowing they won’t kick you out of the park at 26 minutes becuase you will already be done. I KNOW you will shave some time off…you’ll be too excited not to. I saw a special on the news where they did research on running vs walking, and walking had almost the exact smae results and people were able to walk often at quicker speeds! Hopefully you have time to take a picture or two with a princess or character along the route.

    1. I wish I would have thought of it sooner. It’s so crazy that the intervals make me faster.

    I’m so proud of you! Way to go. About the time you are running around Disney I’m going to be walking around Denali, Alaska but not at 13 min. Per mile. Good for you!

    1. I don’t have anything to compare it to, but this one really isn’t too bad. At least if I can do it with her, I know I can do it without pushing, right?

    1. We all did a run/walk later in the week, and the older two cheering me on helped a ton!

    1. I try to be consistent! One day, I’ll have pictures to show my girls from ever week when I started:)

  15. Good job. I have a friend who just ran this last year. She loved it and is running it again this year.
