Did I join cross country, too? | Mommy and Me Monday | 540th ed

Last summer, we learned about the cross country running program at the middle school. By the time I found who the coach was and heard back from him, it was completely filled up and even on a waiting list. (I’ve since learned that they don’t even advertise it and it fills up, so this whole first kid in middle school has been an experiment because we don’t know about so much.)

So, I was on the email early and got the kids into cross country for 2020-2021. Of course, we have no idea if there will be a season or what it will look like, but we are planning none-the-less.

And because practices haven’t been able to happen, the girls were sent a running schedule and log to complete every week.

So, we’ve been to parks, and run in the neighborhood. It also means I’m like a self-dubbed honorary cross country runner. Or at last I’m getting some good practice in.

There’s been some mileage logged. We are attempting to work on our form, endurance and speed. We are all definitely works in progress!

Oh, and new running shoes, because all of our shoes were in REALLY bad shape. So glad we were able to get some shoes that will keep our feet and bodies feeling good.

I never ran in high school or middle school, but I’ve heard the team is a great bunch and I look forward to how the team works out this year.

  1. I ran track in 8th grade, and won the 400 once. I was NEVER fast, and it continues to be about finishing, not getting the top speed! 🙂

    1. 400! That’s a sprint, right? Like super fast! Yeah, we are all about finishing here, too.
