Chattanooga Mommy and Me Monday | 287th ed
This weekend, we took a very last minute overnight trip to Chattanooga. I’ve become friends with a mom who is traveling with her husband this baseball season and they set us up with tickets to a Chattanooga Lookouts game. It was our first family baseball experience and despite it sprinkling and raining on us several times, we made it all the way to the fireworks at the end. And, the game was great with two triples and a final score of 15-2!
We didn’t really have plans beyond going to the game and staying the night. It’s a little crazy for us, but we went with it. The last time, we walked across the river, played in the fountain and had ice cream. Before that, we visited the big three Chattanooga attractions in one day: Incline Railway, Ruby Falls and Rock City. We knew we didn’t want a repeat trip. Thanks to the overcast and on-gain off-again rain, we needed an indoor activity.
As we drove into town the day before we spotted what appeared to be a children’s museum. We asked around, looked at the site and decided to purchase tickets for the family to the Creative Discovery Museum (yes, we paid for the tickets).
We spent about 2 hours there and could have stayed longer if we would have packed a lunch! (Next time we will as there is a space for eating and/or buying lunch) There were so many pockets in the museum to check out that we didn’t even see everything; music, art, building, science, paleontology, light and more.
There was a printing station all about transferring ink to paper and one of them was stamps. They actually had a full set from the alphabet (I was shocked….most places don’t have the full set). Everything was in such great shape. I stamped E’s name on paper for her and brought it over to her. I asked her what it said and you could see her little wheels turning and her eyes moving, and she got all excited and said “It says my name!” and read her name.
Mr. Serious captured the moment she realized it said her name without me knowing.
B was practicing her art skills and her crayon hoarding skills. She’s doing quite well with both of them!
It was a nice little getaway for the 6 of us. I even think I’m getting better at packing. We got everything into two small suitcases! Woohoo!
What were you up to this weekend?
Since the button code stopped working many moons ago, I took it out. But, if you are adding your link to my link list, please, as a courtesy, add a link back to my site so people can explain and link up themselves if they’d like. After all, that’s the point of the link up!
It’s time again for Mommy and Me Monday. Pop out from behind that camera and capture yourself in action with your kids. Check out the inaugural Mommy and Me Monday for more information.Â

What a fun adventure! Kudos to your husband for getting that shot and, ooh, I spy a Lillebaby. 🙂 We went a little “wild” this weekend extending what should have been an hour or two adventure downtown into 6 hours! I was shocked E survived it – but then again, she got a cozy nap in her Lillebaby so I think that helped. Longer adventures were easier when she was tiny and would nap them away in the infant seat. Now I just have to make sure I have my carrier and it seems like we are good to go.
Oh someone would have had to drag me out of that museum – it looks so fun.
Sounds like a fun little trip! And wow, I’m very impressed at packing for 6 people with only 2 suitcases!!
Looks like you have a fun time at the museum and game.
