A Race and a Performance | Mommy and Me Monday | 679th ed
Track mom reporting for duty. The oldest had her first race of the season! So it was time to hit the road. (When the junior team I’m coaching doesn’t have a race, I get to go watch her.)
She had a PR on her 1600m of 5:53 both achieving her goal of wanting to break 6 minutes and getting a time that qualifies her for a varsity letter. She also competed in the 800m race and has said she’d like to improve on that time.
A few hours later it was time to head home (with a very drowsy stowaway in the backseat) to get ready for N’s honor band performance.
I had just enough time to knock out my own run and shower (nevermind having some wet hair) before getting back in the car. This time it was a family affair. We snapped a picture while waiting for the concert band to leave the stage and N’s symphonic band to get all set up.
The fact that the band can learn 4 entire pieces in about 11 hours in absolutely phenomenal. Add to that the fact that they sounded really good and holy cow that’s impressive.
