I’ve never been one for keeping the kids’ artwork and projects as they grew up. I’d be buried in paper! Except the ones with their little handprints and footprints.

For some reason, those always get me. How quickly their little hands go from those tiny fists and fingers that won’t let go to hands that can hold yours to hands that can hold a pencil and draw to hands that can drive a car. It’s a blink.

So many similarities in our hands, and yet differences, too. The youthful, wrinkle-free skin, but also the long fingers with a very wide hand span.

Going into the week, even with a school break and several things we did together, I didn’t have a single picture I could use. And I wasn’t feeling getting a picture. Just general blahs around it.

We were sitting at the table after playing cards and it hit me, this is my presence, too. Some of the girls had scattered and I asked them to come back and snap a quick pic. Thankfully, they all approved of it.

Sometimes even the thing you do out of a self obligation can turn into something more meaningful than you imagined.

What did you do this week?

GET IN THE PICTURE WITH YOUR KIDS! Who cares what you look like? Who cares how you appear? Who cares what you are wearing? JUST DO IT! Come share your picture on the Facebook thread or use #MommyAndMeMonday!
