First Race and Venezuelan Arepas | Mommy and Me Monday | 810th ed
It was our first full week with just the 5 of us. There were many times we caught ourselves asking if the oldest would be home for dinner and setting the table for 6. She’s having fun and has started her first day of school…so a bit of a reality check coming too!
The middle schoolers had their first official race of the season, and me, coaching. B earned a medal and E was close behind. It was a good race for all of the kids, despite it being longer than advertised. And HOT!

Can we talk about that same left knee pop? Or maybe not, but too funny we all did it!
Sunday, N had a school Spanish project to learn about culture from a native Spanish speaker. She asked a friend’s dad if she could interview him for the project. He wanted to do it the “right way” and not the “school way” and invited us over for N to speak Spanish with their family (and me to understand a small part) and to learn how to make Venezuelan (and Colombian) arepas.

They were so delicious! And I’m hoping that N decides to make some at home for us!
They also shared some of their favorite fruits like rambutan and green and red cactus.
We learned how to stuff our arepas (basically unlimited) as well as the nicknames for some various stuffings.
What did you do this week?
GET IN THE PICTURE WITH YOUR KIDS! Who cares what you look like? Who cares how you appear? Who cares what you are wearing? JUST DO IT! Come share your picture on the Facebook thread or use #MommyAndMeMonday!
